The promise of quantum physics

Quantum physics maths

Quantum physics maths

In Denver, we have a meetup group that studies quantum physics. It is driven primarily by Mike Witt, who plows through thick physics books filled with maths and helps the rest of us to get up to speed in basics, so we can “understand” somewhat the maths.

A lot of “strangeness” evaporates when the quantum effects are expressed in maths because the strangeness is often caused by the additional meaning added by the ordinary language used to express the metaphor.

Now we are trying to understand de Broglie – Bohm theory which looks more palatable to our human intuition than wave function collapse of Copenhagen interpretation. But it is much too complex for our level, so far. I hope Mike will get it eventually.

Personally, I like quantum information model, probably because it is close to what I am doing now (programming) and because it has, I think, potential to answer (and unite) the two fundamental questions – in physics (what is out there?) and philosophy (what is consciousness?). It is always very attractive – to reduce several problems to one only and then provide one answer to all the questions, isn’t it?

I will write more about it, probably also in the next book – Dark Matter.

Good question…

– What should I do?! Whom to marry? This one makes good money, the second one is very smart, the third dances so good.

– Well, can the first learn to dance?
